Effects changes when using different amp models
Question: When I choose a different amp model, all the effects change, and I have to set them up the way I want all over again. What’s the story?
Answer: Basically, each amp model is set up complete with effects that complement that particular sound. You can almost think of it as 6 extra presets (only they’re not available from the foot controllers). If you have an effect setup that you want to check out with some different amp models before deciding which one you want to save it with, just power up the Spider while holding down the D button . This will turn off the EQ and effects autoload and you’ll be able to check out all the different models with your effects setting.

Model differences in Spider/ AX2/ Flextone amps
Question: How come the models in the Spider are different than the AX2 and Flextone?
Answer: Since we only had 6 slots available for amp models in the Spider, and we wanted to provide the best and widest possible range of sounds, we decided to use everything we’ve learned about amp modeling over the last several years and create some new sounds that combine the characteristics of a number of different amps. Spider can take you all the way from pristine clean to more gain than you can imagine.
